π¬ Advanced diagnostic techniques for FJ Cruiser
- Techstream (Toyota software) β allows bi-directional control of 4WD, ABS, SRS, and TPMS. Many shops charge $100-150 for a full scan.
- 4WD actuator reset β after repair, some need a “learn” procedure: start engine, shift from 2H to 4H and back several times, then drive in a straight line.
- Oil pressure switch β often fails causing false low pressure. Test with mechanical gauge before condemning pump.
- Rear diff lock engagement β must be in 4LO, transmission in N, and drive straight. If still blinking, check diff lock position sensor.
- VSC/Trac off β perform zero point calibration after steering angle sensor or yaw rate replacement: use Techstream or drive straight at 50+ mph for few minutes.
