FRM / FEM / BDC
Footwell module (E/F series) controls lights/windows. Corrosion causes failure. FEM (F-series) integrated, BDC (G-series) body domain controller.

How to diagnose VANOS issues (stepβbyβstep)
- Scan faults β look for P0011, P0012, P0014, P0015, or 2A82, 2A87.
- Monitor live data β camshaft angle deviations (actual vs desired). Should be <3Β° at idle.
- Oil level & quality β low oil or old oil clogs solenoids.
- Swap solenoids β exchange intake/exhaust solenoids, see if fault moves.
- Check wiring β resistance 10β12Ξ©, 12V supply during actuation.
- Inspect VANOS gears/bolts β timing chain stretched or sprocket bolts loose (E46 M52TU/M54).
