Complete Oil Change Procedure Guide
Changing the oil in your Chevrolet Aveo is a straightforward process that can save you money on maintenance. Follow these steps for a successful oil change:
Preparation & Safety
Park on level ground and engage the parking brake. Allow the engine to cool for at least 30 minutes. Gather all necessary tools: oil filter wrench, drain pan, funnel, gloves, and new oil filter.
Draining Old Oil
Locate the oil drain plug underneath the engine. Place drain pan beneath the plug. Remove the plug and allow oil to drain completely (15-20 minutes). Clean the drain plug and reinstall with a new washer.
Filter Replacement
Remove the old oil filter using an oil filter wrench. Apply a thin layer of new oil to the gasket of the new filter. Hand-tighten the new filter (¾ turn after gasket contact). Do not overtighten.
Adding New Oil
Remove the oil fill cap on top of the engine. Using a funnel, add approximately 90% of the recommended capacity. Start the engine and let it run for 1 minute. Check dipstick and add oil gradually to reach the proper level.
Critical Warning
Never overfill your engine with oil! Overfilling can cause excessive pressure, oil foaming, and serious engine damage. Always check the dipstick multiple times during the filling process.
